Eleanor grew up in primarily in South Bend, Indiana, but for the first nine years of her life, she moved back and forth from her Indiana hometown to Tokyo, Japan, to attend primary school in both countries. As a result, Eleanor is bilingual and has also been very involved in her Japanese community in South Bend as well as international-oriented clubs and organizations in the South Bend area. She attended Saint Mary’s College and received a bachelor’s degree in history along with a minor in political science and another minor in Japanese from the University of Notre Dame.
Before joining the OIS team in 2017, Eleanor had a couple of internships at Notre Dame. While working for their Center for the Study of Language and Culture, she had the opportunity to manage some of the logistics of the summer 2016 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Orientation, where she met and befriended around 60 teachers from over 30 different countries. This especially sparked her interest in international education.
In her spare time, Eleanor loves to go to local coffee shops, travel both domestically and abroad, spend time with family and friends, and watch Notre Dame football.
