Funding opportunities

A variety of funding mechanisms are available to support research activities at the China  Gateway.

Global Gateway Seed Grants

OVPIA will match up to $5,000 in commitments from other IU units (e.g., departments, schools, campuses) for activities at the Global Gateways. Preference will be given to applications that build on existing IU institutional partnerships, that involve collaborative activities likely to be sustained and enhanced in the future, and that advance strategic international goals of other IU units as well as the Indiana University International Strategic Plan.

President's International Research Awards

The President's International Research Awards program provides funding of up to $50,000 per year, renewable for up to three years to support high-impact international collaborative research projects that engage one or more of IU's Global Gateways and the communities they serve. Projects may be based at a Gateway or within the region served by a Gateway, but in either case should make full use of the resources, expertise, and networks of one or more Gateways.

CAHI Global Gateway Grants

CAHI Global Gateway Grants are administered jointly by the College Arts & Humanities Institute and the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA). For College faculty whose primary area of research or creative activity is in the arts and humanities, these grants support activities that take place at one or more of IU’s Global Gateways. Together, CAHI and OVPIA will provide joint funding of up to $10,000.

Overseas Study Program Development Grants

Overseas study program development grants, up to a maximum of $3,000, support faculty to explore the academic and logistical local arrangements for prospective faculty-led study abroad programs.
