The conference NEW INSIGHT INTO POLITICAL ECONOMY which takes place at the IU Europe Gateway focuses on questions such as: What is the role of fiscal policy in influencing economic growth and development? What role does openness of an economy/international trade play in this question? How do different constitutional designs influence economic outcomes? What are the political forces that shape economic policy?
The conference brings together scholars from Indiana University and all its German partner universities: University of Bayreuth, University of Freiburg, University of Hamburg and Freie Universitaet Berlin. The conference brings together senior economists with excellent international reputations and more junior economists and graduate students. The purpose of the conference, apart from the exchange of ideas, is to establish a research network of scholars who share are common interests and who are willing to collaborate on timely and policy-oriented economic research. This conference is intended to lay the groundwork for such research collaboration.
