The populist wave in parts of the world has challenged many elements of international governance, including major multilateral treaties, organizations, and in some quarters the idea of international law itself. While the trajectory and durability of this trend is uncertain, it has already tested the assumption that international law will expand and deepen inexorably.
In this fourth event in the joint speaker series between Freie Universität Berlin and Indiana University, David Bosco (IU) and Heike Krieger (FUB) will explore some of the distinct populist critiques of international law and institutions and explore the implications of this phenomenon on the development of international law.
Reinhard Müller (FAZ) will moderate the discussion and lead the Q&A session to follow.
The Freie Universität Berlin - Indiana University joint speaker series aims at bringing together scholars from both institutions to discuss current topics of global politics, stir scientific dialogue and research initiatives and trigger public debate.
