The focus of the workshop on March 21-23 is Innovation in Education. European experts assembled by Adam V. Maltese from IU Bloomington's School of Education will look at both new approaches (i.e., innovations) to teaching students, and approaches to teaching students that can lead them to be innovators. Some of the approaches to be discussed are integrated STEM/STEAM/MINT education, making and makerspaces, inquiry-based learning and engaging students in authentic disciplinary practices. Attendees will be from a variety of sectors of education, including school administrators, classroom educators, museum educators, makerspace coordinators and educational researchers. The focus will be on initial plans for collaboration in research or training initiatives across Europe, Asia and North America.
