Twenty-four undergraduate students from the Kelley School of Business BUS-P 256 Business in the “Flat” World course will attend lectures given by local faculty at the India Gateway on infrastructure and business in India, the Indian economy and politics. These lectures will be followed by a visit to Huawei that afternoon and a visit to Tata Elxsi in Bangalore the following week, both supported by the IU India Gateway.
Business in the Flat World is a course only for 1st year direct admit students in the Kelley School of Business. Students spend the second eight weeks of the semester in class learning about globalization and emerging economies in general, and the economy and businesses of India in particular along with an introduction to India’s history and culture. The students then travel to Delhi, Agra, and Bangalore, gaining from their academic and experiential learning a new perspective on the social/political/cultural background of India, the institutional context of business in India, and an introduction to conducting business in India, including a look at how supply chain, marketing, and information management is achieved in this growing emerging market.
