IUSD and the Federal University of Santa Maria are collaborating to develop a unique graduate course that will provide students with the opportunity to learn about the cultural and socio-economic differences between Brazilian and US Dentistry. The course will allow students to work together virtually, planning cases and completing coursework while taking into account the diverse perspectives and experiences of their international counterparts. This partnership will provide students with unique opportunities to learn from and engage with international experts in the field, and will also foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration in the dental community. This project is a great opportunity for our students to expand their knowledge and skills while working with students from another country, and will help to prepare them for a globalized workforce.
Graduate course where the students will be exposed to the fundamentals of interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on recognition of normal vs. abnormal and normal vs. artifact. Students will gain experience in describing what they see in images. Differential diagnoses will be developed and discussed based on the radiographic appearance of pathoses. Additionally, the student will gain a working knowledge of advanced imaging modalities such as CBCT, MDCT, and MRI. Basic principles of image processing will also be presented. New diagnostic/treatment tools like intra-oral scanning, virtual planning, and 3D printing will be introduced to the students.
