Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a violation of international law and a threat to regional and global peace and stability. We have been horrified to watch the attack unfold, and are deeply concerned for the safety of the people of Ukraine—including our own alumni, researchers, research collaborators, and the families of our students, scholars, and staff. We are also concerned for the well-being of our students and others in our community who have family and friends in the region, and have reached out to them to offer our ongoing support. As an academic community, we must also engage and learn from each other and from experts. This week the Robert F. Byrnes Russian and East European Institute and the Hamilton Lugar School are sponsoring a Teach-In on Russia's Attack on Ukraine.
We join the international community in hoping for a speedy and peaceful resolution to this terrible conflict. For those in our community who wish to support those in need, the U.S. government has made information available about ways to help.
