This course combines didactic lectures by faculty, laboratory demonstrations, and seminars/class discussions led by students to examine non-verbal communication and mind-brain-body relationships. Studied topics include reading faces and bodies, microexpressions, emotion and emotional contagion, empathy, cross-cultural communication, in-out groups, animal social cognition. Assessment will be based on evaluations of; 1. facilitation of group discussions of primary literature and presentation of group findings to the class; 2. written critiques on selected readings.
