The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University renewed its agreement for academic cooperation with the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer (DHV) and the German Research Institute for Public Administration (GRIP) in December 2015. The initial agreement was spawned out of SPEA Dean Emeritus Charles Bonser's long-term relationship with Speyer as a whole. Since then, both institutions have amicably promoted and support the relationship agreement and its ongoing success. The organizations have maintained multiple lines of communications through the international offices of Speyer and SPEA, through the summer abroad program directors from each institution, and through the faculty that have participated in exchange programming at the research level. Activities over the years have included faculty exchanges, a summer program for students, a research conference in 2012 and subsequent edited volume of presented works, the Transatlantic Policy Consortium Conference in 2012, and a book on the evolution of policy in the EU co-authored by current SPEA Dean John Graham and Speyer Chair and Prof. Michael Bauer.
