Indiana University signed an initial primary, university-level agreement with UNAM in 2013 and have renewed that agreement through March 2024.
IU's Office of the Vice President for International Affairs has administered a successful graduate research exchange program with UNAM since 2013.
IU also operates the IU Mexico Gateway office on the UNAM campus, located in the International Unit of Foreign Universities building (Unidad Internacional de Sedes Universitarias).
The Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory & Policy Analysis at IU has partnered with UNAM since 1999. Previously UNAM was a partner with the Ostrom Workshop on a four-year project funded through USAID to study the effects of decentralization reforms on forest sustainability and livelihoods (~$1.1 million).
