IU and Tsinghua University initiated a primary agreement in 2006, signed when IU President Michael McRobbie visited Beijing on July 10. The agreement was renewed in May 2014 and again in May 2019 for another five year period.
As of May 2019, IU has the following activities with Tsinghua University:
The Kelley School of Business has an agreement with Tsinghua’s People’s Bank of China School of Finance supporting a number of student and faculty activities.
A collaborative research agreement is in place between Tsinghua’s Department of Automotive Engineering and the School of Engineering and Technology at IU Indianapolis.
The University Graduate School has hosted 52 Tsinghua undergraduates at its International Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
The Eskenazi Art Museum (EAM) and the Tsinghua Art Museum (TAM) have collaborated since 2017. EAM sent an exhibit of paintings to TAM last year, and plans are in the works for an exhibit at IU of Qing dynasty pieces from TAM’s collection.
The Office of the Vice President for Information Technology has worked with CERNET, based at Tsinghua, for many years.
