The Joint Virtual Center of Excellence in Data for Good is an interdisciplinary virtual center that aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences, learnings, and ideas as well as the co-development of innovations using data and information technology to address societal challenges. It will foster collaborations that improve the use of data and information technologies to benefit society, particularly as it relates to healthy and sustainable communities. The primary foci of the Center are the innovative use of data and technologies to inform decisions and enable communities to design and implement local solutions. Center participants will co-develop methods and approaches for the collection, analysis, and use of data for understanding community challenges; facilitate their use in designing and implementing solutions; and engage communities throughout the process. The collaboration will involve the exchange of ideas, joint development efforts, joint research efforts, public dissemination, capacity building, and student learning opportunities.
