Financial support for new education abroad programs
These grants provide funding to explore the academic and logistical arrangements for prospective faculty-led IU education abroad programs.
IU faculty members can apply for grants to develop new, credit-bearing education abroad programs - including study, intern, or service-learning abroad. Preference will be given to those new program proposals that:
- Are interdisciplinary in nature involving collaborations with two or more academic units across campus/schools
- Involve collaborations across two or more IU campuses; and/or
- Relate to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Proposals must be for credit-bearing programs abroad, with a minimum of 3 credits.
Eligibility
Full-time academic appointees on any IU campus can apply for funding. The grant may not be used for travel to programs already approved by the Education Abroad Advisory Council.
Deadlines
The deadlines for application are November 1 and February 1 each year.
About the Funding
Awards are a maximum of $3,000 to fund international travel costs and local room and board expenses, typically for up to one week abroad.
